BAND OF THIEVES – same (1976) Ovation-1727 – EX/EX (cover/vinyl)
A very rare “major” label 70s modern soul album, this incredible lone release by the Minneapolis, Minnesota, group is only getting harder and harder to find. They mix great vocals with excellent rhythm backing to create a super-infectious sound that's great for the dance floor or for personal listening. There are nine guys in the band - black, white & Latin, and tracks are "America," "Sweet Lady," "City Slicker," "A New Day," "Call on Me," "My Story," "Love Me or Leave Me," "In the City," "I Need You," "I'm in Love," and "Call on Me (Reprise)." An all time classic raregrove album and really tough to find.
This is a really nice copy. The cover has some slight wear and a few edge scuffs (see photos) and a cut out notch in the top seam near the jacket opening. The vinyl (previous owner’s name on one side) is clean and glossy with only insignificant sleeve scuffs – super nice. I grade this conservatively: EX/EX (cover/vinyl).
