BAD RELIGION, PUNK LP, INTO THE UNKNOWN, EPITAPH, 83
Epitaph label, 1983, record looks M -. Jacket looks M - also and is still mostly enclosed in the shrink wrap which is torn away on the back, just in one place. Comes with original insert with photo on one side and lyrics on the other. Very good quality and another original order blank insert. This album is far removed from their first album. Hard to believe that it’s the same group, even though with new drummer and bass player. The style is completely different. Again, engineered by Jim Mankey, of Sparks fame. Vocalist/keyboardist Greg Graffin really breaks out the synthesizers and pianos on this album. Songs are:
Only Over When... (this opening song has a great 60s sound with a contemporary flair; nice folding vocal harmonies)
Chasing The Wild Goose (totally great and melodic with a churning 60s garage instrumentation sound)
Billy Gnosis (has kind of a big 70s hard rock sound)
Time And Disregard (what? Harry Chapin sound!)
The Dichotomy (good)
Million Days (great song; dark and folky)
Losing Generation (good)
...You Give Up (good)
Interesting lyrics on this album, as with their first LP.
