Description

The "Forty-Eight Society" was formed to record all 48 Preludes & fugues of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier. This is Volume 1 played by Arnold Dolmetsch on clavichord. The project was not completed. See photo of notes for contents of this set. The 78s with special labels were manufactured for the Society by Columbia Graphophone of the UK. The 7-12" 78 RPM shellac discs have no spindle trails, excellent luster and look almost new, graded EX. The album has badly damaged spine, good front and back graded G+. The trifold notes are worn with writing on front but readable.
