Formed by ex -Geddes Axe guitarist Andy Barott, they became part of the N.W.O.B.H.M. Signed to Ultra Noise they released this impressive debut album. Not only has this become rare, but this copy is a test pressing! Produced by John Verity.
Baby Tuckoo was an English hard rock / NWOBHM band, formed in Bradford, West Yorkshire England, United Kingdom in 1982. Their name is taken from the James Joyce novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. They're generally considered a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
They released two albums with Rob Armitage (vocals), Neil Saxton (guitar), Andy Barrott (keyboards), Paul Smith (bass) and Tony Sugden (drums).
Prior to their recording career, Steve Holton (vocals) and Alan Tidswell (keyboards) were in the band.
Armitage left to join Accept in 1987.

Very good début album... I remember this act back in the 80's...the 2nd record label of this band was Music For Nations.. NWOBHM influenced and with the add of keys that softened their sound Baby Tuckoo provided good solid songs backed up with a more than decent vocalist (Rob Armitage)...my fave tracks are the AORsih one "Things(Ain't Always What They Seem)", "Holdin' On" & "A.W.O.L." then another goodies are "What's It Worth", "Baby's Rockin' Tonight" (ala Deep Purple/Uriah Heep) & "Sweet Rock & Roll" that ends the album the way it has to be...rocking!!! ...this début along with their second release are more or less in the same line and both are worthy...86/100

Very pleased to have rediscovered it and a forgotten NWOBHM band from all those years ago. The band was from West Yorkshire. They got together in 1982 sort of arising from the ashes of Geddes Axe with ex-Axe member in the line-up. Baby Tuckoo named themselves from a phrase in the classic James Joyce book Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man – very refined – and built up a solid following in and around Bradford which would soon see a debut single in Mony Mony – a cover of the Tommy James & the Shondells song. Their début album – First Born – appeared in 1984 through a minor record label.
First Born rocks. Plain and simple. The power of it comes through loud and clear. Crunching guitar, some seriously good vocals, inspired soloing with some fine melodic stuff inter-woven. I’d say it’s comparable to period Def Leppard and Misdemeanour style UFO. Quite remarkable really. Another New Wave of British Heavy Metal talent which was never fully realised. You might struggle to find First Born. Get yours now.

Break down of P&P costs:
1) Postage
2) packaging
3) Money to go to the post office and return from the post office.(Sometimes, this actually costs more than postage).
Therefore: dispatching an item costs more than what the postage label indicates. Please keep that in mind.
Also keep in mind that when a seller has to deciding the P&P price, he (or she) doesn't know exactly how heavy the package will be and where potential byers are located. If the buyer is from a nearby country, the P&P might look "expensive". If the buyer is from a faraway country, it might look "cheap". Bottom line is: please don't complain about the P&P price at any stage (especially NOT when you leave your feedback for the item that you bought), as I am trying to guess what price to charge for P&P and it is impossible to get it "exactly right". If you are a Scrooge and feel like arguing, or creating a problem for tinny amounts of money, just don't buy from me. I don't want to complicate things and I don't like Scrooges.
