Description
ULTRA RARE SWBO-101- B29/A28 Beatles White Album. Side 2, is Scranton pressing matrix A28, which means it's a Harrison compression mix . Side 1, is an extremely rare B29 matrix which weren't thought to be more than 2 dozen in existence. George Harrison listened to the first 33 masters, and ordered all of them be scrapped. A few copies made it out of Scranton before these masters were destroyed. This is one of them.
Sides 3 and 4 are Jacksonville lacquer matrix J44 and J47 respectively, but pressed in Scranton (both records have the IAM triangle logo next to the matrix in the deadwax, denoting the Scranton press)
Also, very low US serial number A1383089 Additionally, all 7 label misprints are present (see photos) I've researched this copy extensively, and have posted corresponding articles discussing the SWBO-101-B29/A28 matrix copies of the White Album. This is one of those "unicorns" for the Beatles collectors.
The cover and records are in G+ condition. The outer gatefold is stained front and back, and spines on all sides, are separated. The records are all playable, but have numerous surface scratches. I've tried to capture this in the photos. No poster is present, but inside gatefold is clean. Records are both in period-correct, but non-original inner sleeves.
Starting price reflects condition vs. rarity. Mint or even VG+ copies that are complete with poster, have sold for thousands. It's guaranteed, that B29/A28's are VERY few and far between. Buy this copy at a mere fraction, south of much cleaner copies.
