Offering up a set of items featuring an actual “bones” X-ray pressing made from a discarded X-ray. This practice was done behind the Iron Curtain in a time when the lack of resources, needed for pressing records, forced individuals to use whatever would work in order to hear the latest western hits. If you were found holding one by the local governing body (especially if it had western rock music within the grooves) there’s no doubt some jail time would be in your future.

The “bones” record included in this listing is not a familiar sounding rock song but rather some kind of Russian folk music (I think). Obviously the music isn’t the point of interest concerning this rare piece of history but rather the actual image of a human spine you see when held up and observed. As you can see in the provided photos the condition of this obscure record is consistent for these types of pressings. The spindle hole is handmade but does do what it’s supposed to. I’ve played this record sparingly over the years and only for the pleasure of any record collector friends who share my ever lasting infatuation for anything vinyl. The more obscure or odd the pressing the better and it doesn’t get much better than this.

Also included in this listing is a Limited, Record Store Day pressing by the than exiled musician Mstislav Rostropovich. This record was produced to pay homage to all those people and artist who took great risk in producing those “bones” records back when the Soviet Union forbade such practices and made you pay dearly if you got caught. The condition of this beautifully pressed 12” record is brand new and mint.

Hopefully another vinyl worshipper like myself will enjoy having this record that is about as weird a pressing as there is in addition to having a fantastic and important historical relevance. The RSD record is numbered at 0275 from a total of 3000 pressings worldwide.
