About the group: The Morloch Personnel: LAURIE CROOKS vcls A NOEL NEATES A TERRY RICHARDS A GEOFF SMITH A JOHN SZARLAY A BILL VERBAAN A 45s: 1 Every Night/I'm Feeling Sad (Reg Grundy RGK 119) 1965 2 Time Machine/Hit The Road, Jack (Parlophone A 8195) 1966 3 From The Start/It's Time You Realised (Parlophone A 8209) 1966 American producer Mark Royal successfully promoted this young beat band from Sydney. Taking their name from the H.G. Wells novel "The Time Machine", their second 45, was presumably the groups anthem. Certainly, the track Time Machine is regarded by some as the first truely psychedelic release from Australia. It has a superb psych-pop intro and can also be heard in all its glory on the Devil's Children CD along with I'm Feeling Sad. Their other releases sadly bore no resemblance to it. Laurie Crooks went on to Square Circles, whilst Bill Verbaan resurfaced briefly in Honeybunch (along with Colin Burgess from The Master's Apprentices and Denny Burgess from Throb / Master's Apprentices). You can also check out I'm Feelin Sad on the vinyl version of Devil's Children; Every Night on So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star, Vol. 1 and So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star (3-CD); and It's Time You Realised, a beaty number on Diggin' For Gold, Vol. 5 along with Hit The Road Jack.
