Description

Here is a very rare double album of performances of Black American compositions in the art song genre. Performers include Uzee Brown Jr., who wrote music for Spike Lee’s School Daze, as well as the famous tenor George Irving Shirley. The set was released by the University of Michigan’s School of Music in 1980. Some information about this project and its influence can be found in this 1999 New York Times article. Both LPs are near-mint. The gatefold cover--which has wonderful art--is in VG+ condition with light normal shelf wear.
