Art Pepper - Modern Art
Media: LP
Condition: EX
Cover Condition: EX-
Label: Intro
Reference Number : ILP-606
Country: US
Date: 1951
Original mono pressing with dark maroon label, flat edge and a deep groove. The record has a few light surface marks visable under a bright light, none that break the surface. The surface looks excellent but the pressing is not great and the record plays with fairly consistant background noise but the music is clear. There are about 4 pops near the end of the second track on side one from a small mark there. Side two is much more quite but still has pressing noise and a couple of light clicks in one spot. Cleaned on a Keith Monks Record Cleaning Machine and stored in an audiophile sleeve.
The cover has scotch tape along the majority of the top and bottom seams. There are 2 names plus the number 85 written in ballpoint at the top of the back cover. One of the names is also written at the bottom of the back cover. There is some light yellowing on the back cover. The front cover has light ring wear, a small tear in the upper right corner near the Intro logo (probably from a price sticker) and light discoloration along part of the spine.
Overall a pretty nice copy of this very rare record from 58 years ago.
Art Pepper on alto sax, Russ Freeman on piano, Chuck Flores on drums and Ben Tucker on bass.
Tunes - Blues In, Bewitched, When You're Smiling, Cool Bunny, Dianne's Dilemma, Stompin' At The Savoy, What Is This Thing Called Love, Blues Out.

We do not play grade most of our records so we guarantee our visual grading with a money back guarantee that includes shipping. Generally, we do not list records below EX- condition unless it is exceptionally rare. We do not recommend audiophiles bid on records in less than NM- condition. Our grading standard is as follows.
Mint is only used for sealed records or records that we are certain have never been played.
Near Mint or NM is for the most part as good as it gets! No marks and will play clean with no noise unless inherent in the pressing.
EX+ Will generally have one or two minor flaws, but will overall be near mint.
EX or Excellent will have light surface marks and some background noise.
EX- Overall an Excellent copy with light surface marks, but with something that distracts, like a small scratch that makes a few pops.
VG+ Consistent background noise, pops but should not skip or stick. Still a playable copy.
VG has many problems. Noise will dominate. May have quite a few pops and possibly a skip.
VG- Will likely have a skip or two and will be very noisy.
G = Our lowest grade and is actually a poor record. We will probably never list a record in this grade on eBay but the grade is here just in case.
