Antique 1908 Pipeolion Harmonica Musical Instrument Ten Trumpets Weiss Germany
8" wide; 3 1/4" tall; 1/2" wide at wood base and 3/4" wide horn end.The horns average around 2" in length.
This Pipeolion Harmonica by Christian Weiss, Trossingen, Germany was introduced in 1907. It has 10 brass blow holes and ten brass horns, each containing two reeds.The instrument has a wooden and metal comb.
Printed in gold on the instrument is" Pipeolion Full Organ Tone Patent Applied For Made By Ch. Weiss Germany. On the back is a bar of Music of "Home Sweet Home." In very good condition. The 7th horn from the left has a small 1/16" notch out of the right side of the bell end (see photo with the horn and ruler).
Has the original two page instruction by Frank Scribner on how to play the Pipeolion, copyright 1907. It also has four sangs. Also included is sheet advertising Harmonicas by Ch. Weiss.
Has original cardboard box. The top of the box has the sides missing, it is just a flat piece of cardboard (a couple of the pieces of the sides are there). It has the original label which is in excellent condition.
It's very rare since it was made only for four or five years. In many Museum Collections.
