Everyone – Self-Titled was issued in the UK in 1971 on B&C Charisma CAS 1028. The only album release by this ill-fated band jointly lead by Andy Roberts and Bob Sergeant. A quite amazing, somewhat schizophrenic  mix of folk psych country blues prog tracks, with Roberts’ tracks and Sergeant’s tracks actually sounding like two completely different bands. Of course this is a 1st pressing, as the LP was only pressed once – matrix CAS 1028 A-1 U / B-1 U. This is a particularly rare copy, however, as it has mispressed labels or, should I say, duplicated Side 1 labels. Yes, that’s right! Both sides of the LP has a Side 1 label. The record itself, however, is correctly pressed, as noted by the matrix numbers above and proven by the fact that I have played it a few times. (Note: no previous owner has added any marking to the labels to indicate which side is which, so currently the only way to identify this is by checking the matrix in the run-off groove).

That Roberts remains a criminally under-rated (and obscure) musician and songwriter (despite the best attentions of Pink Floyd, Roy Harper and many, many others) is surely only testament to the whims of the publicity machine and his preference to take the stage as an accompanist rather than a band leader. Anyway … his solo career which began with Home Grown in 1969 / 1970 and ended in 1973 after only a handful of albums (six actually, if one counts the B&C reissue of Home Grown and this band album, “Everyone”, but omits the wonderful Plainsong album (with Ian Matthews), “In Search of Amelia Earhart”) was short on timespan whilst very high on quality. I have all six of these albums as UK originals up for auction now. Your chance to collect the entire solo output of this exceptional artist on the original UK 1st press vinyl. I also have U.S. editions of two of the Liverpool Scene albums from the late 60s also up for auction now. Andy was a key member of Liverpool Scene – the musician among the poets, so to speak.

Strong unlaminated gatefold sleeve, manufactured on heavy grade card, is in Near Excellent condition overall. There is general edge and cornerwear, some light scuffing and slight ringwear to the rear BUT the oh so delicate, and crucial, gimmick fold-out mounted in the middle of the front of the sleeve is perfectly present and correct (in great shape, actually!) with the interlocking flap, although creased, still strong and perfectly able to lock down the fold-out. The text on the wide spine is perfectly legible and the opening edges tight and unfeathered.

The vinyl is in Excellent (+) condition. The record looks new and has clearly hardly been played at all. There is a little very light crackle evident between tracks and in the run-on and run-off grooves but not in the music.

The labels (see above) also look almost new with no traces of spindlewear but faint fingerprints showing under bright light on the black background.

All my records are cleaned on a Moth Mk II RCM and play-graded on a Rega Planar 3 turntable through an azur 840a amp into Matrix MX-1200 Reference speakers. Inferior component-type turntables without proper tracking are more prone to sticking and jumping than high-grade turntables. If you love vinyl, do yourself a favour and invest in a decent system if you don't already own one. You don't have to pay thousands. Excellent quality 2nd hand turntables are available on eBay for under £100 (about the price of 1 rare LP). Your investment will be more than rewarded by the additional listening pleasure you derive. M = Mint - as new

NM = Near Mint - very few, light signs of usage that don’t affect play - the cover has only minor signs of wear.

EX = Excellent - some signs of usage, but very little lessening in sound quality – the cover might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG = Very Good - no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch - normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

G = Good - the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches - the cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

+ and - are used as appropriate.
