You are bidding on the multi-LP American Top 40 set from the week of December 13, 1980. The LPs look great and is identical to the one we sent to the archives for Premiere Radio for future airing. These are the ORIGINAL, unedited shows with commercials as they originally aired.

When John Lennon was assassinated on December 8, 1980, the AT40 show to air the weekend of December 13, 1980 had already been pressed and ship to radio stations. For those familiar with AT40 LPs, they're not sides 1A&B, 2A&B on each LP like normal. They are paired 1A/4B, 2A/3B, 3A/1B and 4A/2B. As fate would have it, side 1A of the original pressing had a listener question about posthumous acts to hit the top 40 and side 4B touted the rise of John Lennon's new hit single (Just Like) Starting Over.

With his death, the AT40 staff went into action in the hours before sunrise cutting a new intro with Casey's endearing tribute and eliminating the listener question. In 1980, it is simply amazing that tracks were cut, master delivered to a record pressing plant and a replacement LP shipped to stations to air in time.

Included in this box set is the complete 4-hour show with that replacement LP. Unfortunately, the station did not preserve the original LP. This 5th LP is indeed a rarity. I have been fortunate enough to have had access to the master tapes for both the original and replacement versions.
