Allen Pound's Get Rich - Searchin' in the Wilderness

Parlophone R 5532  25th November 1966

One of the great freakbeat singles - Record Collector # 163 called it a "deranged freakbeat masterpiece... three minutes of killer fuzz guitar and pounding drums" - unusually accurate this time. The whole tone of the track is garage with a sneering snotty vocal over the aforementioned wall of distortion and ending with an early recording of genuine guitar feedback! Even as a collector of psychedelia I have enjoyed the power and exuberance of this gem.

This is a Demonstration Copy in fantastic condition considering it was released over 44 years ago.

The A side has one tiny click right at the start which is probably a bit of dust that could be removed with the appropriate cleaning tools but after that it is like new, just the music - no clicks and no pops. I never use mint unless the record is still sealed so I am going to say this is excellent.

The label is bright and clean.

The B side also plays cleanly - no clicks and no pops. There are two visible pressing faults that do not sound or affect the play at all which is great news if you like both sides of this rarity - I would also grade this as excellent.

I haven't seen one of these on eBay for quite a while - certainly none this year - so take this opportunity to own a little slice of sonic history.
