Description

U2 "Achtung Baby" Original Issue LP

Here we have a naughty little vinyl prize for fans of the one and only U2: a sealed copy of their lp "Achtung Baby," released in 1991 by Island.

This was the Big One -- the album that catapulted the lads from stardom to megastardom. This copy is a first pressing which means that, hidden among the 32 snapshots that make up the front and back covers, is a photo of bass player Adam Clayton going the full monty.

Unfortunately Mr. Clayton's desire to strip himself to his essence cheesed some big shots at Island Records. When they caught wind of the artwork they reissued this lp in a new and not so nude edition with a clover leaf covering Adam's naughty bit (a rather large clover leaf, as I recall) thereby sparing the innocent eyes of preteen U2 fans everywhere.

Up for auction is this sinful, rare, and new/sealed U2 Achtung Baby with the naked and explicit Adam banned cover.

The album is still sealed from the manufacturer. 26 years later you won't find a more impressive copy of this acclaimed 1991 LP.

First Press. Catalogue Number: 314-510 347-1. Pressed in the U.S.

This cover was later censored on following pressings.

Includes original printed inner sleeve and lyrics sheet. Released 1991 on Island Records. The album sleeve for U2's Achtung Baby album consists of 4×4 squared montage of 16 images by the band's long-time photographer, Anton Corbijn, devised since the band couldn't decide on a single image to use.

It includes the photo of a naked Adam Clayton (3rd photo down from the left) and photos of band members in drag, all of which were part of a desire to confound expectations of U2.
