Description
AVALON Going Thru/ Gypsy – 7” vinyl single on own label (an SRT pressing) from 1982 (SRTS 82 CUS1296).
You are bidding for an original pressing of this obscure NWOBHM / Progressive single by Avalon. Information about this band is very limited, but they were probably from Scotland due to the tracks being recorded in Cava studios which I believe are in Glasgow.
The single features two tracks, Going Thru which has a NWOBHM sound and Gypsy which is more of a progressive instrumental.
Visually this is a nice copy with a few light marks visible under a good light. When on the turntable there is some evidence of edge warping, but nothing serious enough to affect play.
Audibly there is an occasional click or pop, but I would suggest this copy has only been played a handful of times from new. The sound quality on Going Thru is what I would describe as a bit muddy due to poor production, but this is the same as my own copy I’m afraid.
The labels are clean with little evidence of spindle marking and are graded as Ex condition.
This single was never released in a sleeve to my knowledge.
Anyone simply grading this visually would probably give it an Ex or even M- grading, however as it isn’t the flattest of pressings I feel a Vg+ or Ex- grading is fair.
Overall then a nice copy of a rare and collectable single which I would grade as Vg+ (vinyl).
