INTERNATIONAL AUDIO REVIEW : ----------------------

“Once again, it is Sheffield the pioneer showing everyone else what really can be done with the disc medium. This record is cause for excitement and rejoicing. You want one. It is the Sheffield drum record.

A drum set is a superb musical instrument for testing virtually all of the performance capabilities of your audio system, especially loudspeakers. The Sheffield drum record tells you about the quality of your speakers within seconds. And because the Sheffield drum record is so clean and uncompressed in its instantaneous peak crests, it readily shows up problems in the playback system. Some loudspeakers, (and/or power amps) can handle the instantaneous peaks without compression while others sound anemic or downright distressed. Audio components whose chief virtue is their masking of disc distortion are exposed as possessing no ‘musical’ advantage here, and instead their simultaneous masking of true high fidelity becomes more apparent.

The sonic fidelity of the Sheffield drum record is enthralling, and its value for learning about your system makes it a must.”
