Progressive Rock of the highest order here, an undisputed masterpiece of the genre and a wonderful LP for those who may not have heard it. Although it charted on release in 1970, helped by the success of the single 'Tomorrow Night', to find the album in the condition found here is admittedly quite rare, and the owner has clearly tried to look after it over the years. Here's the full run down.

OUTER GATEFOLD: This totally matt black, typically solid Ernest J. Day gatefold is very hard to find in this condition. There are a few minor creases on the front (only noticeable to the top left), and very light ringwear and rubbing, a remarkable feat, considering the total black make up of the sleeve. All of the lettering is clear and fully legible across the sleeve, with the wonderful front cover artwork presented sharply. There is some shelf wear to the bottom front edge, and some light wear to the other edges, but nothing too drastic or severe to take away from the solidarity of this gatefold. Overall in the region of VG+++, but knowing how worn this sleeve can get, that really is rather good! Most presentable.

SPINE: Fuly clear, solid and legible. Slight wear to the top edge, but the writing stands very strong. Very impressive! Excellent.

INNER GATEFOLD: This continues the black theme of the outer gatefold with a fine portrait of the band. The right panel suffers from traditional creasing along the gatefold edge (found in numerous matt gatefold sleeves made by Ernest J. Day of the time) where the inner sleeve has impacted upon the card. In spite of this, the inner gatefold grades as Excellent.

INNER SLEEVE: Is the correct plain white inner sleeve that came with this album with no faults.

LABELS: The picture label on side one is clean, with only a tiny amount of spindle wear, and this is reflected on side two, the text side, which is also very clean with little spindle wear. Excellent.

VINYL VISUAL: This is a treasure to behold. I can only just see some very faint, light marks from the removal of the disc from the paper inner and there are more of these on side one than on side two. There are no scratches anywhere, and the vinyl is remarkably clean. Excellent condition.

VINYL AUDIO: Lives up to the expectation given by the visual inspection. Very, very light surface noise which does not distract from the listening experience at all. Yes, there are occasional light clicks and rare pops, but nothing to disappoint the listener. The vinyl grades, both sides, as the absolute definition of standard excellent condition.

OVERALL SUMMARY: It is rare to find this LP in this condition. For me, it defines a record being graded as excellent, if maybe slightly on the minus side. It is a privilege to look at and listen to, and I have not seen a copy in better condition for years.

THE BLURB BIT: Postage within the UK is £3.00. I accept bidders the world over, but not from any countries that other ebayers have had problems with. Postage, by Surface Mail abroad is set at £8.00, as is recorded delivery in the UK. The album will be solidly packaged and dispatched once Payment has been received. I have maintained a love of collecting records for 15 years now and feel that my judgements on conditions are HONEST and FAIR. I go by the UK RRPG standards and general eBay grading policy. If anyone disagrees with me on this then PLEASE CONTACT me before leaving feedback. There are no problems, only solutions.
