This first pressing plays to a very high standard and only minimal background.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning overall and there is only one light click across the entire record, on S2.  A handful of light static ticks at the start of S1 and some light static on the final track during the quieter section.  However, the vast majority is stunning - the sonic quality is definitely from a record that has not been played very much.  Hardly any spindle wear by the way and nothing on S1.  The vinyl itself is in great condition with only a couple of minor blemishes.
The E.J. Day cover is for once in superb condition, hardly any fading / spotting which is indeed rare.  It has held its original shape and structure perfectly and the original inner sleeve is also in excellent condition.
According to Discogs the T & M stampers are the first known so this has to be one of the earliest off the 'printing press'.  It has certainly been preserved very well, it is nearly 55 years old!

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy look with no scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a handful of small faint hairlines and one small mark / blemish at the start of S1.  S2 has a little 'bag-rash', some light contour lines, but honestly it is so faint and nothing to worry about.  You can only see it when you look very closely whilst tilting the record.  The run outs grooves are super clean and the B & C labels are near perfect with only minimal spindle wear on S2.
Play Grading
The quiet piano intro on 'Death Walks Behind You' plays very clearly with only a small number of minor static ticks and as Cann's guitar enters the playback is perfect.  Crane's opening vocal section is so strong and clear with no background and the brief instrumental is outstanding as is the next chorus.  The piano section that follows is of course quiet and yet the clarity is stunning with only a couple of minor statics.  As the volume increases the power and depth of the audio is phenomenal and to the remainder plays to the same high end standard.  The long fade out gives you a good idea of the clarity on offer here, it has no background at all.  The entire track plays with such deep rich audio and there are no clicks or pops and no background static either.  An Ex into and Mint- from then onwards.
'Vug' plays with breathtaking power and definition through every section.  This one has to be turned up to max!  The musicianship is superb and from start to finish there is no interference.  A true classic prog instrumental it could not play any better and Mint is very much deserved.  I mean why not call it Vug!
The intro on 'Tomorrow Night' is 'as new' and the opening vocal is just as impressive.  It continues in the manner with a sonic quality that is so strong and dynamic.  A hint of inner groove distortion?  A smidge maybe!  But so so minimal and the audio is still on the superb spectrum!  Hammond's drum work and Cann's work is stunning on this track.  Their first hit single and you can see why.  Mint-
Crane's intro on '7 Streets' has barely any static and the next high powered section is faultless.  The opening vocal is very strong and it continues to play with deep powerful audio and... no interference.  The mid instrumental is high octane to say the least and the remainder plays with imperious quality also.  Whilst the track does play with a little inner groove distortion it does not take away from what is a superb version.  I think Near Mint- is a fair reflection of the audio.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cann's intro on 'Sleeping For Years' is superb, a couple of minor statics at most, and as Hammond comes in the playback is as deep and powerful as it gets!  The opening vocal is equally as good and it progresses in the same way.  The mid instrumental is stunning and it has to be said Cann was a better guitarist than he was vocalist.  I mean his voice wasn't poor but it was on the guitar that he truly excelled.  Incredible solo work here and the closing instrumental passage also plays to the highest standard possible.  Mint
Another perfect intro on 'I Can't Take No More' and the first vocal has no intrusion either.  I have to say the depth on this track is phenomenal.  It 'drives' along with such deep, rich audio and Crane's bass adds so much to that.  There is one light click a little further in but the music is loud so it's not obvious.  The long fade out plays with perfect clarity.  Near Mint - the 'vocal' coda stands alone really and is nigh on perfect with only a couple of light statics at the beginning.
The piano intro on 'Nobody Else' plays beautifully with only 3/4 very quiet statics and the quiet opening vocal plays with sublime clarity also.  The instrumental section then plays with great power and depth and no interference and then the quiet closing section keeps up the good work with only two minor statics.  Mint-
'Gershatzer' ends the album with tremendous power and definition from the word go.  The opening instrumental is phenomenal!  It proceeds in much the same way although the quieter instrumental piece does have a little static here and there, not a lot though and it isn't loud.  As the volume increases the sonic quality is astonishing!  Again it demands to be played loud and Hammond's drum solo right after is just as strong.  All three are showing the skills here and to the end it plays with stunning quality and no distortion.  I'd say the majority is Mint- with just that quieter mid section grading as Ex
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
This is easily the finest example of this cover that I have seen.  It is so often affected by by a lot of fading / spotting around the edges but there is is only very minimal here and not obvious.  The edges have only a little rubbing and the wide spine is very clean with only a handful of small white 'specks' and remains 100% legible.  The corners have only a little wear, a just a bit more 'rub' at the foot of the spine and on the right corner of back cover.  The opening edge is pristine and as stated the front cover is in lovely condition with hardly any marking.  The back cover is similar has very little handling wear and the laminated is superb with just one very small faint mark near the bottom left corner and a handful of minor laminate creases next to the spine and bottom edge.  The back cover is similar with very little spotting and just one faint scratch line that you can only see when you hold the cover at a certain angle.  The inside of the gatefold is in superb shape and again has barely any spotting.  A fine example overall.
The original Plastic bags... inner is in excellent condition with no side splits or tears, minimal age related fading around the edges and only a little creasing.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
