ASD 582 Rimsky-Korsakov Tsar Saltan Suite & Others

HMV Edition in Great Condition & Cleaned by a Degritter

This is beautiful and dynamic music & very well recorded. It is performed by Efrem Kurtz and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Album first released in1963. Also features Rimsky-Korsakov's Dubinushka, Op 62 & The Snow Maiden Suite. Last comes Khachaturian's Waltz & Galop (from Masquerade).
I once owned 72 lineal feet of mostly pristine LP’s, many played maybe once or not at all — I was collecting way too much! I pared down to a smaller collection after selling my state-of-the-art stereo system (VPI turntable / Graham tonearm / Benz Micro cartridge) about 20-30 + years ago. This record has been stored unplayed under ideal conditions since that disposal. My decision to end my "high-end" playing days was also due to a deteriorating hearing condition. I have only played this LP twice, once back then in my "high-end" days and once again recently before offering it now for sale.

Overall LP condition: Appears visually excellent overall with no scratches. It is in very nice shape for a 60 year old LP! It plays flat too. The LP’s spine hole is clean and round.
Overall character of play: It plays very well — with good orchestral “weight” in the lower mid range and, to me, a not too lively top-end. Background vinyl noise is very low - the Degritter record cleaning certainly aids in lowering background sounds! This LP has many slow and soft passages which play nicely. This LP deserves a M- grade but will just say "Excellent".

I have no qualms representing this particular LP as excellent sounding overall, with "defects" having minimal impact on the music. But it isn't perfect - from my notes based on single play (where you are "attempting" to listen for things and your head can play games with you both ways!):

Side 1 Band 3 There is a quite “noticeable” tic sound about 17 minutes 50 seconds in (about an inch from end), one that doesn't "escape" you by being buried in the music, for example.
Side 2 Band 2 - Light tic about 10 min:25 sec into music in left channel & again 1+ sec later in right channel, not too obtrusive.
Band 3 - Light tic at very end - don't remember the time.
The loudness of “sounds" I described above, is subjective obviously. There are no really loud tics or pops. I am going to give LP another pass on the Degritter and that might clear the few imperfections heard but I won't play it again.

I need to emphasize, I can not hear really high frequency light tics, if present. I doubt that is a problem due to great record condition, plus it has been cleaned multiple times with my Degritter on the longest cycle (app 15+ minutes of ultrasonic treatment. Additionally, the end user should remove static.
Jacket Condition is excellent. Front art work is laminated - and the LP has left a light imprint of it’s outer edge that you can see in the right light because the jacket material is thin. Otherwise. mostly very clean.
Back text is very clean and readable. The LP spine is clean and readable. The structural integrity of the jacket is excellent. There is a very small square sticker just below the ASD 582 on upper right corner area that someone attached.
The LP comes with a quality 6 mil outer sleeve over the jacket. When shipped the LP will be removed from jacket to prevent tears & damage to the jacket.

The LP will be shipped insured. Media Mail is a touch slower but inexpensive.
Equipment used to evaluate and care for the record: VPI Scout turntable & Ortophon Black MM cartridge with Shibata stylus. Each LP is ultrasonically cleaned for a minimum of 15 minutes by a Degritter record cleaning machine and a de-ionizing clean air tool used instead of brushes.
