Description

BACH - CHROMATIC FANTASIA & FUGUE in D Minor, BMV.903

Holy Toledo!! This is a RARE beast. This is a pre-release test pressing of the sublime recording by ROSALYN TURECK. Maybe a unique opportunity to own this pre-release copy. Officialy released in 1962 this recording has become highly sought after. This one-sided tp has clearly stamped the date 8th November 1961. The stamper in the run-off groove reads " 2YEA 535-3. The playing is stunning. It is no wonder she has become such a sought after artist.

CAT. NO. ASD 453 on HMV/EMI Records

The sleeve is in near mint condition. The vinyl is in near mint condition it looks unplayed apart from a small paper scuff into the run-off groove.

***Thanks for the tip-off Richard. Just to make sure that it is clear. This is just the Bach - Chromatic Fantasia & Fugue in D Minor (A side). I'm reliably informed by the previous/first owner that this was how he obtained it. He was a cutting engineer working for the BBC and had friends at HMV who worked the cutting lathes who gave him directly this copy even before press copies were available hence the very early date stamp. Still possibly a unique opportunity to acquire a test pressing of this record with such an early and individual date stamp. ***
