Here’s one of those Holy Grail type Jazz albums that we are proud to be offering for sale. This is an original Mono double sided Deep Groove “Long Playing Microgroove” label pressing of this LP from 1957. This is pressed on heavy vinyl with a flat edge.
Personnel on this LP includes ART PEPPER on alto sax; RUSS FREEMAN on piano; CHUCK FLORES on drums; and BEN TUCKER on bass. The material was recorded at Radio Recorders (December, 1956) and Master Recorders (January, 1957) studios in Los Angeles.
COVER: The cover is in overall great shape. It still retains much of its beautiful original luster with only a small amount of light surface wear. The front has a small area in the top right corner with tag residue and a small surface tear (measuring 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch at its widest point) in this same area. The torn area blends in with the cover well. There is one small and light rub on the front center. The seams and spine are all intact and in nice shape except for one 2 inch bottom right seam split.
VINYL: We cleaned this album on a VPI record cleaning machine and it looks great overall. A close look under a lamp reveals a few scuffs and scratches. We noticed only about a handful of small scratches on side one that can be lightly felt on the grooves. This record plays through well and is in very nice shape for its age and would easily grade a VG+ on side two and a very strong VG on side one. Click an Image to Enlarge
