Description
For auction is ART FARMER & DONALD BYRD's "2 Trumpets" on Prestige 7062, MONO, 1956. With Barry Harris, Jackie McLean, others.
SOUND: VG+ or better
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The sound of this 63-year-old masterpiece is fantastic! Just delightful! For complete transparency, I will mention an area of very faint surface noise on A3, "When Your Lover Has Gone," lasting for perhaps 60 seconds. Again, very minor, but must be mentioned. As for Side B, another area of very light noise during a very quiet passage, very brief and very minor. Other than those small issues, this record sounded brilliant. Unless you are the strictest perfectionist, you will be delighted listening to this record.
VINYL: VG/VG+
Visually, the vinyl is very nice, but it does have some routine wear. There are a few faint scratches that do not affect playback and minor smudges. My impression is that the record plays noticeably better than it looks. This is on the gold-and-black "fireworks" label, with "446 W.50th" address. One label has been stamped "Promo." Run-outs are etched as follows: "PRLP-7062-A // PRLP-7062-B" as well as "RVG" & "AB" etched on both sides.
COVER: VG+
The cover is quite nice. The edges are solid with very little wear. The corners are good with only minor wear. The front and back are clean and unmarked except for a "promo" stamp on the back. The front and back have minor, routine, aging and wear.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
A rare and desirable record that sounds absolutely great! No reserve, bidding starts at $75.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
