almost unbelievably, this one is even better
nice soulful psych rarity from the band formerly known as The V.I.P.s who were soon to undergo metamorphosis into Spooky Tooth, and it would be impossible to find a better copy of this, their solitary single (aside from the lost promo-only Art / Spooky Tooth 45) - slightly different mix to the ‘Supernatural Fairy Tales’ LP version with a really big sound as is always the case on these early Island singles - absolutely original 1st pressing from July 1967 with the ‘Mills’ miscredit and very scarce solid centre (2nd pressings changed to a 3-prong ‘dinkable’ centre) - perfect labels - original pink company bag (although Island would not begin widely using the pink covers until 1968) - a quite superb reworking of the Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills) song ‘For What It’s Worth’, Art’s strong full-blown phased soul treatment brings the piece alive in a big way - ‘Rome Take Away Three’ is a great hard and heavy B-side too - top psych 7” and one of the scarcer pink 45s - now 47 years old and still as new!
