Description
Arnold Dreyblatt
The Orchestra of Excited Strings
“Nodal Excitation”
INDIA NAVIGATION (1982, USA)
American composer Arnold Dreyblatt is considered a second generation minimalist composer. His compositions are based on harmonics, and thus just intonation, played either through a bowing technique he developed for his modified bass, and other modified and conventional instruments that he specially tuned. He originally used a steady pulse provided by the bowing motion on his bass but he eventually added many more instruments and more rhythmic variety. Instruments used in this fascinating recording are Bass Viols with Excited Strings, Midget Upright Pianoforte, Portable Pipe Organ & Hurdy Gurdy. All instruments have been altered. Great stuff! India Navigation recordings are very hard to find. Don’t miss this one.
Record is in NEAR MINT+ condition (appears unplayed) & jacket is NM- due to a small factory cut corner to lower right corner.
I recently acquired a small but superb collection of modern, experimental, improvised, & electronic music. I will be offering 50 or so items from this collection at the end of each month. This kind of material rarely surfaces so keep looking for future auctions.
