Modern Classical Side 1. Pacific 1 Side 2 - Track 1. Pacific 2 Side 2 - Track 2. Pacific 3

Glasgow composer Craig Armstrong rises from the Pacific: this new LP is a three-part work for piano, cello and electronics, tearing pages out the rulebook of suspense-thriler cinematics and clear-as-day recording techniques. Commissioned in late 2024 for Berlin Confidential, a contemporary music series from Christian Kellersman and Alexander Szlovak, the piece debuted live at Berlin's Meistersaal in March 2025, with Armstrong joined by cellist Lena Angelina von Almen and producer Guy Sternberg. Written as an elegy for global unrest, Pacific channels a quiet hope for peace, its proceeds supporting Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Red Cross. The record's omnidirectional sound captures the full imprint of its various halls and rooms, as layers of cello, soundboard-miced piano, and choir make a loomed liquid of suspenseful bliss.
