Aquilla is a promising young Polish metal band that formed in Warsaw in 2015. Their heavy-speed space metal is inspired by films such as "2001: Space Odyssey," "Dune," "Alien," "Blade Runner," and "Interstellar."

Following several singles and EPs, their long-awaited debut album, "Mankind's Odyssey," was released in 2022. This is now followed by "Sentinels of New Dawn," Aquilla's second album, their first for High Roller Records.

Drummer Peter Slammer explains: "In every respect, the new record is a big step for Aquilla. Looking back, one has to admit that the production process for »Mankind's Odyssey« wasn't optimal. The end result was a good-sounding album, but the chosen musical direction didn't really suit the band. That all changed when we started writing the material for »Sentinels Of New Dawn«. The new songs are a bit more oriented towards the old-school classics and are equally powerful and epic."

In addition to the music, Aquilla’s lyrical approach is also extremely interesting. The band has created its own universe: "We are all dedicated science fiction fans, both of the classics and of newer stuff. Our music tells the story of the last surviving humans who have decided to develop new life on the planet Yvad'déra. We developed this concept on the previous album, and it is continued on »Sentinels Of New Dawn«. This time we are dealing with crazy space pirates ('Plunder And Steel'), bloodthirsty mercenaries ('Battalion 31'), and crazy tech autocrats ('Technocrat's Tyranny'). And they are all fighting among themselves. Just like in real life. »Sentinels Of New Dawn« and »Mankind's Odyssey« are both concept albums in their own way. The storylines, however, are not particularly strict—except that, philosophically speaking, it is about the survival of humanity on a distant planet—so there is plenty of room for our own The listeners' interpretations are left open."
