ANNEXUS QUAM – Osmose. Wah Wah Records LPS 049. Spanish release. FACTORY SEALED VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1970 on the Ohr label. This edition issued in 2008. Replicates the original die-cut cover art that can be assembled in to a pyramid. Limited to 500 copies. MEMBERS:  Uwe Bick, Jurgen Jonuschies, Werner Hostermann, Peter Werner, Hans Kamper, Ove Volquartz, and Harald Klemm. TRACKS:  Osmose I, Osmose II, Osmose III, and Osmose IV. DESCRIPTION:  This little known masterpiece of kosmiche psych from 1970 Germany very much defines the 'krautrock' sub-genre of progressive music evoking a highly hallucinagenic atmosphere and trippy ambience that the early German experimental rockers were known for (such as Amon Duul II, Can, Faust, and Ash Ra Tempel). The band’s formation began in 1967, and in the true free spirit of the times, they considered themselves a kollektiv (collective) rather than a band, much like the origins of Amon Duul. Annexus Quam’s distinction on this, their debut, was that they developed an otherworldly and mystical atmosphere from a loose improvisational framework of a jazz/fusion format containing woodwinds, flute, and keyboards in addition to tradional bass, drums, and guitar. In each of the four divisions of the title track, the band settles into a groove and organically develop increasingly hypnotic and effect loaded soaring improvisations which litteraly invoke a feeling of being carried away into space. Unlike fusion, the performances are not virtuosic, but each instrument improvises into the basic groove of the song and carries the music into avant-garde and psychedelic texture invoking an atmosphere much like Pink Floyd's Saucerful of Secrets or Ummagamma. There is excellent percussion throughout and beautifully integrated musicianship; you can tell the musicians listen to each other quite well. This is an essential recording for psych/krautrock fans; the krautrock tag has been tossed around quite a bit over the years (when someone says krautrock, what do they really mean?), but Annexus Quam and this album represent one of its defining moments (this is an answer to that question). Also you may want to explore the similarly hallucinagenic and demented kraut band Dzyan, whose album Electric Silence is a wonderful piece of psych madness.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
