Description
1971 Topic Records release #12T 207 - UK issue
Anne Briggs is always listed as a major influence
by her contemporaries. Not as well known as Maddy
Prior, Sandy Denny or June Tabor, Briggs' strong
stylings paved the way for many other great female
singers from the 60's English folk revival up to today.
She retired from recording far too early, only releasing
a few LPs between 1966 & 1973. There were also a handful
of early recordings on compilations including The Iron Muse,
one of Topic's famous folk samplers. Also worked with
Bert Jansch, Dave Swarbrick , Frankie Armstrong &
Sweeney's Men (Johnny Moynihan appears on one track
of this LP).
It's said she was the influence behind Sandy Denny's
"The Pond & The Stream" and I seem to recall reading
she may have been the subject behind Richard Thompson's
"Beeswing".

This is the blue Topic label with silver print.
Someone wrote a dedication on the reverse of cover,
dated 1972 which suggests to me this is an original pressing.

happy to post it.
