Description
ANN SOUTHAM- SKY SAILS (1973) original vinyl record. Private press, distributed in minuscule quantities.
Text and music by Ann Southam and Sean O’huigin.
Ill try and get a sound clip up in the next week.
Includes original printed watercolour insert by the artist William Ronald (1973).
MHIC COMPANY MH-93 (CSPS 645 STEREO) serial no. run-off MH-93A/B-1A
Sleeve- VG++/EX. Very nice copy. Minimal ringwear to back cover. Corners in great condition. No seam splits.
Record VG++/EX. Plays very nice, with just very light surface noise for a minimal spoken word, sparse electronic recording. Nice dynamic range for playing out.
To my knowledge, never re-issued on vinyl. One the rarest and most sought after early electronica records to come out of Canada.
Side 2 is mental- Techno on a 73 tip….amazing and truly original!! Sad to let this go.
Overall, a brilliant and at the same time strange concoction of spoken word poetry, married with Ann Southam’s weird electronica musings. Pretty mesmerizing and trippy, like nothing else in my collection. Reminds me of a kind of Clockwork Orange Kubrick on wax!! Right out there. Back cover description offers a better explanation than I ever could.
To what association the following had with this lp, I don’t know, but from the back cover text these names appear, of which Im only familiar with L'Infonie. Name check - Bill Bissett, Four Horsemen, Intersystem, Raoul Duguay etc
Think this is the first copy to show up on ebay for at least 4 or 5 years.
