Description

Martha "Ann Raye" Barhanovich was a rising star in Biloxi, MS in 1955 and the daughter of local promoter Frank "Yankie" Barhanovich. She and her father met Elvis Presley when they were both booked to sing at the Jesuit High School in New Orleans (each was paid a whopping $150). She convinced her father to book Elvis and his Blue Moon Boys at several Biloxi venues; helping to further advance his mushrooming career. Ann (14) would go on to share several dates with Elvis in the summer of 1955, from Florida to Louisanna. She got married at 18 and gave up her singing career. This record is one of only two recorded on the local Biloxi label - FINE, #1001. The songs ("Our Wedding Band/Reckless") are great examples of rockabilly from that era. The vinyl is rated G - it has numerous scratches and scuffs on each side but still plays well with minimal noise. The label has sticker residue on one side and writing on both sides. Buy this record and own a piece of history!

Record Grading

The condition of a record is all-important in determining its value. Our records are inspected visually and rated according to Goldmine standards.

M         Mint – new, never played. Vinyl is perfect.

NM      Near Mint – No visible defects. Vinyl looks like new. The record could have been played before and still be rated NM as long as it was played on a high quality turntable and cared for properly.

VG+    Very Good Plus – Might pass for near mint.  May have a few light scratches or scuff marks. Nothing that affects the listening experience.

VG      Very Good – More obvious flaws such as scratches and evident groove wear. There will be some surface noise but nothing that overpowers the music.

G         Good – This doesn’t mean bad. The record will play through without skipping. Will show more wear and may have significant surface noise.

F          Fair – These records are in rough shape and are offered for collectible value only.

 

 

Please note that some records have slight surface noise even when new. This is fairly common and one of the charms of 45 RPM records.
