Description
Very Rare ANDREWS SISTERS Univeral 78rpm recording from "Buck Privates" (1941) -- Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
This auction is for a VERY RARE Andrews Sisters 78 rpm recording produced as a promotional item for the 1941 release of the Abbott and Costello film, "Buck Privates".
Please read the description and look at the photos for a better idea of the condition.
NOTE: I only have a USB turntable to play 78s on, so with the proper equipment, I'm sure it will probably sound better.
“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Bounce Me Brother with a Solid Four” on a Universal Exploitation picture label disc. Record is a 12 inch diameter 78rpm which I believe was released by the movie studio to movie theaters as a way to promote “Buck Privates”, which starred Bud Abbott and Lou Costello….along with Patty, Maxene, and LaVerne Andrews. The record is in good condition and plays well. It has somewhat of a dark navy blue look to it, and has the code UP-80 pressed into it. The spindle hole on the BWBB side has a chip at the bottom; also there is a little edge roughness at the 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock positions. There are 2 edge chips on the BMBWSF side at around the 3 o’clock position and the 5 o’clock position. None of these edge issues affect the audio tracks.
It is important to note that both songs are the versions that appeared in the film – they are slightly different than the versions released commercially on the Decca label.
BWBB starts out with an announcer saying “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy – as sung by the famed Andrews Sisters in Buck Privates, a Universal Picture”.
BMBWSF starts out with the announcer saying “Bounce Me Brother with a Solid Four – as sung by the famed Andrews Sisters in the Universal Picture, Buck Privates”.
Please email me with any questions before the end of the auction, as I cannot accept returns.
