Visual Grading Condition:
*Vinyl= VG+ =Mono Issue, Blue and White Label, "Van Gelder" stamp in the deadwax,"®" below the "E" on the label,Deep Grooves, Heavy Wax.
*Cover= VG =discoloration and sign of aging, & the top seam is split, minor section peeling & stained mostly @ a small area on back of the cover near spine. A small rubber stamp on back cover, also the address: "43 West 61st St., New York 23" is located on the back cover.
Point of Departure is an album by jazz pianist and composer Andrew Hill, released on the Blue Note label. The Allmusic review by Thom Jurek calls the album "a stellar date, essential for any representative jazz collection, and a record that, in the 21st century, still points the way to the future for jazz".[1] The Penguin Guide to Jazz gives the album a four-star rating plus a special "crown" accolade, and includes it as part of a selected "Core Collection."[
Amazing session from start to finish with Andrew Hill and with a line up of musicians that you would love to see on any record. Line up includes: Eric Dolphy, Kenny Dorham, Joe Henderson, Richard Davis, and Anthony Williams. One of his better lps's recorded on the Blue Note 4000 Series and really hard to come by in such nice shape. Deep Groove pressing and please check above for all the attributes that clarity this is the actual first issued pressing and please check photos in regards to this item.
