Description
Immaculate NM copy of the blue/white label Stereo Erato LP STU 20174 from 1967 of compositions by Fred Barlow. This very scarce LP features one of the rare recorded appearances of the outstanding French 'cellist, André Lévy. He is here accompanied by Geneviève Joy for Barlow's remarkable 16 minute Sonate la Basilisque for cello and piano of 1910. On the other side of this interesting record is the 18 minute Sonate Juventa for violin and piano from 1909 (and first played by Georges Enesco!) with Marie-Claude Theuveny, again accompanied by Joy. The LP also features five delightful miniatures for solo piano, Cinq Enfantines, performed by Joy and lasting all of 5 minutes. A lovely record and neccessary in any good collection of French artist and repertoire.
