Allman Brothers Band - and Duane Allman, in particular, remain objects of our uncritical veneration and admiration. They were, in our humble opinion, the only WHITE (notwithstanding J.J. Johansson, who was black) blues performers who could really play - and feel - the blues. (The others being Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield, John Hammond, jr., John Mayall, and Graham Bond -- did we miss someone? -- oh, yes: Fred Neil and John Sebastian).  THIS ORIGINAL PRESSING OF THEIR FIRST ALBUM STILL OFFERS THE FINEST SOUND SOURCE AROUND. If Duane Allman does not blow your speakers right off, the Oakley-Trucks-Johansson rhythm section definitely will!!! Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! (b)          The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)           Stock (commercially released) mono copies of this album are NOT known to exist.
