DISC: V, DISC IS PRETTY CLEAN AND NICE BUT HAS A SLIGHT WAVE THAT CUASES NEEDLE TO RIDE UP AND DOWN AND YOU MUST ADJUST THE WEIGHT CORRECTLY TO HAVE IT PLAY THROUGH WITH OUT MAKING NEEDLE JUMP.  CAN HEAR THIS WAVE IN RECORDING PROVIDED ( GREAT AND VERY RARE DISC)

********************************************ABOUT THE COLLECTION FOR SALE *******************************

I will be selling off one of the largest and most interesting collections of African music on 78 rpm discs over the next several months.  About one half of the collection consists of commercially released shellack pressed in Africa.  these are no doubt incredibly rare items and much of it is virtually completely off the radar.  Some extremely wonderful and historically important recordings indeed.  the other half of the collection consist of 78 rpm acetate disc that were recorded in the field under the direction of radio lusaka, in what is currently Zambia, between roughly 1948 and 1962.  During that time the radio station was avidly touring a large area in and around Zambia using a van styled out as a recording studio and collecting material from local musician that was later to be played on the radio station. THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL ACETATE RECORDINGS MADE BY THE ZAMBIAN RADIO STATION IN LUSAKA. little to none of these recording were released commercially and they appear to be the only existing copies.  all the records I am listing over the next few months will provide sound clips with samples of both sides of each disc.

As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

Nearly New, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

 E+ 
Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of sleeves.

 E : Excellent 
Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

 E-
Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, few light scratches.

 V+
V+ is an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced. 

 V : Very Good 
Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

 V-
Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level. 

G+
Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

G : Good 
Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is stillhigher than surface noise.
