Description

Artist:  AC/DC

Title:   “Flick of the Switch”

Label:   ATLANTIC ~ 80100-1.  Stereo pressing.

Year:   1983.

Condition:   Album is STILL SEALED in original factory shrink wrap.  Shrink wrap is sparkling clean and completely intact.   There are seven breather holes in the shrink wrap across the front.  Not a cutout.  This is as good as it gets!

NOTE:  This album came from the extensive personal collection of the former owner of a chain of retail music stores who retired from the business in the early 80’s.  The albums have been stored virtually untouched and unplayed since that time in a climate controlled, non-smoking environment.  We are in the process of selling many investment grade colored vinyl LPs, promos, sealed LPs, and other rare collector items from the collection over the coming months.  If you insist on MINT albums, you will be extremely pleased.

Review:

Flick Of The Switch - yet another unheralded gem in the AC/DC catalogue.

Seriously, why this album gets the treatment it does is utterly baffling.  Not only is it jammed full of tracks that rock harder than anything you'll find since Shoot to Thrill, they sound like the band do live.  It's raw, brash and sweaty.  The holy trinity of Mal, Phil and Cliff thunder away and on top of that you get splashes of colour from Angus (or just snorting solo's) and a Brian who is on his *second to last* flawless performance.

Generally I find that this album gets overshadowed by out-patient AC/DC fans, the ones who know the odd single but have never delved deeper.  Talk to the hardcore, fully committed types - those who know the back catalogue in and out - you'll soon find those who know and love amazing tracks like "Landslide", the title track, or "Guns for hire", the latter being one of the many gems hidden on what was the old B-side ("Brainshake" anyone?).

Maybe it's the transition from overly polished "Mutt Lange-ness" from the albums before to unfiltered raw power that throws people off.  Whatever the case, if you've neglected this album then you've truly missed out.  This is AC/DC.”
