Description

For auction is ABBEY LINCOLN's "It's Magic," on Riverside RLP 12-277, MONO, 1958. With Kenny Dorham, Benny Golson, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones, Wynton Kelly, Curtis Fuller, others.

SOUND: VG or better

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The sound on side A is very bright and clean, with the only caveat a soft, random "tick" in a few places. Very, very enjoyable! Side B is probably only VG due to a little more static and ticks. The sound gets very clean again in B4 & B5. Overall, none of it seriously detracts from the playback, in my opinion.

VINYL: VG

Visually, the vinyl has some faint scuffs and marks. Can't see anything that looks deep or troubling. Playback isn't negatively affected on side A, side B has more background static and ticks. I note that the order of cuts 3 & 4 on side B are switched on both the label and cover. Blue and silver "mike-and-reel" labels.

COVER: VG+ or better

The cover is beautiful! The edges are solid with little trace of wear. The corners have minor softening but still look nice. The glossy front cover is clean, unmarked and shows little-to-no wear! The back is clean with routine minor aging. Has a "Promo" stamp in red ink.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

Nice sound, great voice! No reserve, bidding starts at $10.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
