Description
A VERY RARE BEATLE BOOTLEG
I bought this bootleg whilst in the British Merchant Navy visiting Japan in 1978. I have not seen a copy since and nor, to the best of my searching, can I find it referenced on the website that I consider to be the best Beatle discographer website namely www.jpgr.co.uk
DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
The sleeve is plain white cardboard onto the face of which is pasted a large square of beige coloured paper with photograph and printing in exclusively red ink. The central body of this carries a reddened photo of the Beatles which I would date as 1966 - the photo seems like those taken whilst filming Paperback Writer/Rain.
Above the photo is the title laid out thus: THE BEATLES

Eight Amendment
Down the left side is written "Ze Anonymplattenspieler" then the words "A High Standard Of Standardness!" and then the disc reference number "ZAP 7872"
TRACK LISTING - this is in poor type at the foot of the front face and clearly whoever compiled the list did not give much thought to song chronology!;

The rear of the sleeve is blank
The disc is black vinyl with a plain yellow label on each side with only "Side 1" and "Side 2" printed on each respective side.
The only reference online that i have been able to find for this has been at vinylegs website - a large listing of bootlegs - view the entry here http://vinylegs.com/ficha.php?id=119
This website claims the album was made in 1977 by "The Amazing Korneyphone Label" - which would tie in with my picking it up in Japan in 1978. Korneyphone do have a Wikipedia entry which states them to be bootleggers who set up in California in the 1970s and who specialised in bootlegging the larger bands.
CONDITION: The disc is in excellent and perfectly playable condition. The sleeve is in very good condition but looks cheap - which frankly it is..
Incidentally Murray the K (1922-1982) was Murray Kaufman - a New York DJ through the 50s, 60s and 70s who plugged the Beatles heavily in America and who referred to himself as the 5th Beatle.
You are highly unlikely to see this Bootleg offered online again - Bid now and take possession of something that whole bit different where the Beatles are concerned!
