Artist: A Barca do Sol
Album: Pirata
Playback: Stereo
Catalogue: LPV001 (Verao Label)

Info: Fantastic private press progressive group from 70's Rio de janeiro, they backed the Pokora listed LP by Olivia Byington, superb band who really knew what they were doing, despite the record being recorded in 1979 it has a really early 70's feel with lot's of Rhodes piano, wah wah, acoustic instruments in parts and creative arrangments. A Barca do Sol were a well respected group who had their eyes on the ball at the time, they truly knew a good progressive sound. RECOMMENDED.

Grading: Disk: EX Minus, superficial scuffs, shiny surface still, clean, a couple of very light scratches. The scratches don't affect play, playback sounds like EX Plus, Sleeve: EX Minus, light age spots on the reverse and light shelfwear NO WRITTING, 2 company stickers on the reverse stateing where the disk was recorded and giving the address of the artist who created the sleeve. Some light wear on the labels, though no writting.

A nice example of the LP.

Detailed Grading Explanation

We understand that grading is a process which requires experience, a detailed eye and a second opinion! We grade our records using a bright lamp and will only begin to grade a record after it has been cleaned on a Moth 11 record cleaning machine.
Records are graded visually!

These gradings are visual, we try our best to play grade a disk and comment on it's sound quality, though primarilly it's a visual grade. Though we do proffesionally clean non NM records please remember it's visually graded so a pop or click may occur, though we try our best to play grade. Some noise may occur on disks below the EX Plus grade though we offer a good returns policy and we are trying our best to offer the best condition records possible!

WHEN WE COMMENT ON PLAY BACK WE ARE DOING SO BY USING OUR BRAND NEW SOUND LAB GO53H PROFFESIONAL TURNTABLE WITH A BRAND NEW NEEDLE.

Remember we grade the disk on the way it looks, not sounds.

Thanks for understanding.

Mint - Near Mint - Excellent Plus - Excellent - Excellent Minus - Very Good Plus Plus - Very Good Plus - Very Good

  • Mint is perfect. It looks like it was pressed today. New. Only for sealed records.
  • Near Mint or NM is nearly perfect, minus a maximum of 2 very minor flaws, which will be detailed in the description, this applies for the vinyl disk and the sleeve. A maximum of 2 minor flaws. The disk will have a mirror like surface and the flaws will only be visible under a bright lamp. In other words it looks practically new. If no flaws are stated then it's called near mint as the record is unsealed.
  • Excellent Plus or EX+ is when the disk has only superficial scuffs which do not seem visible under normal light, the disk will have maintaned it's glossy sheen, the sleeve will have light shelf wear, light corner bumps and/or light sings of ageing and a touch of ringwear but absolutely not fully blown ringwear. In general it's very, very close to NM unless a reason is stated in the description.
  • Excellent or EX is when the disk has superficial scuffs above the grooves and a few very light scratches which DO NOT make the needle skip, the disk has been played but still maintained it's glossy appearance for the most part, the cover will have light corner bending, some ring wear,  possibly slight fraying on the opening which will be noted and wont be severe, shelf wear and signs of it's age coming through.
  • Excellent Minus or EX- is when the disk has been played well but cared for pretty well, it may have just a few light scratches which DO NOT make the needle skip. The disk will have scuffs aswell above the grooves. The cover will have corner bends but nothing major, slight fraying on the opening, shelf wear and a small signature or writting which will be noted of course. It's in acceptable condition without a doubt.
  • Very Good Plus Plus or VG++ is when the disk is with a few marks/light scratches which are visible easilly but it will NOT MAKE THE NEEDLE SKIP! There will be scuffs visible too above the grooves. The sleeve will have ringwear, small writting which will be noted, sings of it's age, corner bumps/bends/creases and light to moderate fraying on the opening and shelf wear.
  • Very Good Plus or VG+ is when the disk is notably scratched. The scratches will NOT MAKE THE NEEDLE SKIP. The sleeve will have some writting, ringwear, frayed opening, moderate to corner bumps towards heavier corner bumps, shelf wear and will look it's age.
  • Very Good or VG is when the disk has been played a lot and has many scratches but nothing deep enough to cause the needle to skip/jump, the disk will play well but it's not a perfect example visually. The sleeve is not a perfect example visually either, it will have writting, ringwear, moderate to heavilly frayed opening, heavy corner bends and seam splts. It's being sold because it is a super rare record.
