Description

Rare and very collectable 78rpm 10” ACETATE ragtime disc featuring Scott Joplin playing his own compositions: The Entertainer and Original Rag. This is a transcription recording from a piano roll. The disk was issued c. 1950 on the MSS (Master Sound System) label; the labels in the pictures have been stuck over the original labels, but one has come partly unstuck to reveal part of the original blue MSS label (see images). Both tracks were also issued on shellac 78rpm disk on the Jazz Collectors label, catalogue number 534.

Condition is VG+ with some shine and some light surface markings. Both sides play through very well generally with some feint surface noise and with the occasion very slight distortion noticeable, but nothing too distracting.

Supplied in a plain sleeve in good condition with a couple of very minor issues. No writing.

NOTE: Test played on specialist hi-fi equipment with light weight pick-up set to a very light weight so as not to cause any damage to the disk surface.  

The item will be packed securely in layers of bubble wrap and thick card to prevent damage in transit. The postage cost includes packing materials.
