Description: Very rare original Scottish pressing 78 rpm. Great Scott Records was
founded in late-1933 by John Drummond the 15th Baron Strange at his home in
Megginch Castle, Perthshire. He used top quality recording equipment bought from
Edison Bell which was then folding, the equipment having been designed by Bell's
pioneering engineer Paul G. A. H. Voigt. For two years Drummond made many fine recordings - some commercial, some private - typically by local artists most collectors of Scottish music have never heard of. All Great Scott records were pressed in very small quantities and consequently they are exceedingly hard to find. This release by the Perth & District Prize Pipe Band had a likely run of as little as 100 to 200 copies.
Many of the known releases on Great Scott have never been seen for sale and may well be lost.
