Description
78 RPM - GENNETT Personal Recording Department red label jazz songs from Joe Kayser, recorded in 1921 or 1922
This recorded was recorded as a give-away record for dance event in Rochford, Illinois starring Joe Kayser and his Orchestra. Only 300 copies were cut; this is one of the 300. This is a truly rare record.
There is a fascinating historical write-up of this record that includes an interview with one of the original band members at: http://archive.nationaljazzarchive.co.uk/archive/journals/storyville/storyville-109/46462
Rates G, it has a lot of scratches and scuffs. There are no chips or cracks, but the record was not well protected in a sleeve. It is not gray from overplaying, just a lot of scratches and scuffs. The record played loud and strong on my Dual 1218 turntable without skipping, reasonable hiss and pops.
My grading scale is not complicated. Mint (M, M-) means like new with only the slightest of scuffing. Excellent (E, E+, E-) means minor scuffs, scrapes, label wear, light scratches that do not affect the play. Good (G, G+, G-) means scuffing, scraping, scratches, acceptable playing with noticible noise. I try not to sell records that are warped or that skip unless noted. These are records I have picked up while expanding my own record collection.
I pack very carefully with cardboard reinforcement, bubble wrap and sturdy boxes. I combine shipping on multiple purchases where possible. Please use shipping calculator to determine shipping charges to your location.
