One of those very rare Depression era 1933 blues 78s by singers who got in one Victor/Bluebird session and disappeared. This Elizabeth Washington is not the same singer as the one who recorded with the Dixieland Jug Blowers or the "Lizzie" Washington on Gennett. She recorded on what must have been St. Louis day at Victor's Chicago studio. On August 2, Washington, Isabel Sykes, Tecumseh McDowell, Dorothea Trowbridge, Georgia Boyd with Roosevelt Sykes, Walter Davis, Stump Johnson and Pinetop on hand for rent party piano were all recorded. Her phrasing is very St. Louis style blues on "Riot Call Blues", a side backed by Pinetop Sparks on piano. From the same session she also got in on the tail end of the Victor 23000 series with # 23425. First time for either of these on eBay.
