78 RPM 1958 Chuck Berry Sweet Little Sixteen/Reeling And Rocking 1683. Album has scratches and a few rubs.
"Sweet Little Sixteen" / "Reelin' and Rockin'" is a seminal rock and roll single by Chuck Berry, released in January 1958 on the Chess label with catalog number 1683. Recorded on December 29–30, 1957, at the Chess Studios in Chicago, the record features Berry on vocals and guitar, backed by Johnnie Johnson (piano), Willie Dixon (bass), and Fred Below (drums). The session was produced by Leonard and Phil Chess. The A-side, "Sweet Little Sixteen", became a massive hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart and #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart in early 1958. The song is renowned for its lyrics depicting teenage fan culture across various American cities and its influence on future rock acts, notably inspiring The Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA". The B-side, "Reelin' and Rockin'", is also a classic rock standard, later achieving chart success as a live version in 1973.
