Description
70s Japanese Aiwa AP-2200 Linear Torque Direct Drive Record Turntable
This is a beautiful direct drive, linear torque TT. It is manual but has automatic return. All front mounted controls so no need to have lid up for adjustments etc.
Works perfectly and is one of AIWA's top end TT's in its day. It comes with a genuine AIWA Headshel, fitted with an MM cartridge and stylus.
Complete with original 45rpm adapter which has a cut out to store under the tone arm rest. Speed can be monitored via strobe for minor speed control adjustments.
Solid alloy platter with original slip mat in perfect condition - also including shiny blue acrylic slipmat as a fancy extra!
Very heavy unit indeed, the feet are not only adjustable in height for levelling purposes but also slide in and out dependant on the footprint size of where you install it.
Fully adjustable S shaped metal tone arm which is a very nice item on its own.
The removable, clear Perspex, hinged cover is in fabulous condition (general superficial marks). I've tried to get a picture of this with the camera looking through it to show how clear it is.
Expensive in 1979 - a truly remarkable turntable!
Direct drive so no belt issues either. Do not confuse this with the later, cheaper offerings from AIWA, this pre dates SONY and is a magnificent piece.
Will be very very carefully packed for shipping via tracked service - collection is also welcome/preferred.
