LED ZEPPELIN
7 COOL RARE 8-TRACK TAPES
NICE COLLECTION OF 8-TRACK TAPES
CLASSIC LED ZEPPELIN TUNES AND ALBUMS!!
We've been cleaning out all of my old 'stuff' from my parents home and I ran across these cool old vintage 1970's 8-Tracks from one of my very Favorite Rock Bands, Led Zeppelin!
You are bidding on a group of 7 8-track tapes by Led Zeppelin. All 7 tapes are legitimate releases on their original labels. None of the tapes have their cardboard outer sleeves but they are all in great shape.
The 7 Led Zeppelin tapes in this group include Led Zeppelin First Album, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin ZOSO (IV), Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy, Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti (Double Play) and Led Zeppelin Presence.
These are all used 8-track cartridges and since I no longer have an 8-track player (It went the way of my 1974 Chevy), I cannot say for certain if the tapes still play. Visually, the tapes are in great shape. The rollers are still nice and loose and spin freely and the tape seems nice and supple. The pads are soft and flexible. These tapes were stored in a carrying case for 20+ years and never exposed to the elements. The paper labels on the front of the cartridges are very slightly worn, but not too bad. (see photos above) The labels are clean, complete and firmly attached. Overall, some very cool vintage 8-Track tapes to add to your music collection.
Here's what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has to say about Led Zeppelin:
Led Zeppelin was the definitive heavy metal band. It wasn't just their crushingly loud interpretation of the blues -- it was how they incorporated mythology, mysticism, and a variety of other genres (most notably world music and British folk) -- into their sound. Led Zeppelin had mystique. They rarely gave interviews, since the music press detested the band. Consequently, the only connection the audience had with the band was through the records and the concerts. More than any other band, Led Zeppelin established the concept of album-oriented rock, refusing to release popular songs from their albums as singles. In doing so, they established the dominant format for heavy metal, as well as the genre's actual sound.
Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 out of the ashes of the Yardbirds, coming together around guitarist Jimmy Page as the "New Yardbirds" in order to fulfill contractual obligations after the original group's demise. Page had joined the band in its final days, playing a pivotal role on their final album, 1967's Little Games. In the summer of 1968, the Yardbirds' Keith Relf and James McCarty left the band.
Page's stint in the Yardbirds (1966-1968) followed a period of years as one of Britain's great session guitarists. As a generally anonymous hired gun, Page performed on several mid-Sixties British Invasion records.
Singer Robert Plant and drummer John "Bonzo" Bonham were old friends who had been playing about the British Midlands in an obscure group called Band of Joy. The union of the four musicians as Led Zeppelin - their name having been suggested as a joke by Who drummer Keith Moon - quickly revealed a potent chemistry. Their integration of classic Delta blues and mystical U.K. folk into the dynamic power of contemporary rock augured the birth of heavy metal - though in Led Zeppelin's well-crafted hands "hard rock" seems a more appropriate description.
Early in 1969, Led Zeppelin set out on their first American tour, which helped set the stage for the January release of their eponymous debut album. The album helped establish Led Zeppelin as an international concert attraction, and for the next year, the group continued to tour relentlessly.
Such classics as "Whole Lotta Love" were typically based around Page's heavyweight guitar riffs, Plant's raw-throated vocals, Jones' melodic, supportive bass lines, and the inimitable thunder of Bonham's drums.
The group's union of power and delicacy found favor with the audience for rock that emerged in the Seventies. Led Zeppelin's articulate, sculptural music reached its peak with the fable-like "Stairway to Heaven," which remains radio's all-time most-requested rock song. Led Zeppelin's sold-out concert tours became rituals of rock and roll theater.
On September 25, 1980 John Bonham was found dead in his bed -- following an all-day drinking binge, he had passed out and choked on his own vomit. In December of 1980, Led Zeppelin announced they were disbanding, since they could not continue without Bonham.
In 1985, Led Zeppelin reunited to play Live Aid, sparking off a flurry of reunion rumors they also played at Atlantic's 25th Anniversary Concert in 1988.
