Offering is original owner’s 1967 The Young Rascals “Groovin”, Atlantic Records, 12” LP, SD 8148, Stereo, with 100% front cover original shrink wrap in place, blue back cover (no shrink wrap), hype / promo sticker, mid-1967 Terre Haute Repress. Purchased Summer 1967 at The House of Music, New Rochelle, NY.

SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS

·        Album Cover / Jacket – NEAR MINT (NM). The front cover’s original, one-sided, very tight shrink wrap is 100%+ intact giving off a high, shiny gloss. The blue back cover is pristine but does not have shrink wrap. 

The front cover’s red & white promotional sticker “THIS LP HAS THE BIG HIT HOW CAN I BE SURE” is bright and intact. There are no stains, age toning, markings or discoloration on either the front or back covers. There are no splits, tears or corner wear. The spine is 100% intact with no smudging or fading. Both front and back covers have retained their original, rich colors. The jacket lays flat with no warping or bending.

·        Vinyl – CONDITION: EXCELLENT. Seldom played, with no wear, its vinyl playing surfaces are clean and very bright. Both sides have retained their original gloss, with no scratches or feelable surface marks. Each side has several non-feelable surface marks. The iconic blue/green/white/fan bullseye Atlantic labels are EXCELLENT with no spindle wear, fading, stains or discoloration.

·        Inner Liner Record Sleeve – CONDITION: EXCELLENT.  This original, very collectible, Atlantic Fuschia (Red) Fan / Bullseye Logo inner liner paper sleeve is pristine, having retained its red and B&W colors (photos & fonts), with no fading, yellowing or discoloration. There is one (1), 1 ½” seam spilt at the bottom of the liner. One (1) side has forty (40) B&W, 1½” x 1 ½” photos of Atlantic Records’ recording artists album releases to include The Young Rascals, Herbie Mann, The Drifters, Ray Charles, Patti La Belle & The Bluebells, Percy Sledge, Charlie Mingus, Wilson Pickett, Bobby Darin, John Coltrane, Barbara Lewis, Modern Jazz Quartet, Sergio Mendes & Brazil ’65, and Charlie Mingus. The other side lists hundreds (100’s) of “Atlantic 1-1/2” LP Series - $3.79” (70 releases), “Atlantic 1-1/2” LP Series- $4.79” releases, by artist and LP album title.

·        Terre Haute re-pressing on the green & blue labels and blue tinted back jacket with the corrected spellings for "Dino Danelli" and "Mike Owen" on the back. This variant does not have the Customatrix "o" stamp in the runouts.

·        The 1967 LP Groovin' by The Young Rascals (Atlantic Records, SD 8148) often featured a promotional sticker on the front cover that read, "THIS LP HAS BIG HIT," followed by either "How Can I Be Sure" or "A Girl Like You". These stickers were added to the cover as the respective tracks gained popularity on the charts. For collectors, finding the original 1967 pressing with the specific "How Can I Be Sure" sticker on the original shrink wrap is considered a sought-after, noted variation of this classic 1960s album, indicating a mid-1967 release of that single (released after the title track) as it gained popularity on the charts.

·        Significance:   The album is notable for containing the hit tracks "Groovin'," "A Girl Like You," and "How Can I Be Sure," featuring a mix of soul, rock, and pop. This album is recognized as a key 1967 soul/rock release with Eddie Brigati taking the lead vocal on the hit "How Can I Be Sure".
