PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ULTRA MEGA RARE ... recently was advised by one of the univeral top flight collectors out there, who has them all; stating this test press with unique design is far more rare and virtually unknown than most collectors would realize ... apparently only a handful were pressed as such (see letter and inserts below) and sent out to a select few, noted '60s hipster market media heads...
1966 ....Blank label (ESP DISK) TEST PRESSING includes TEXTURED unique paste on "GODZ" insert design...a glossy promo (real photograph - no copy of insert) of our heros, the GODZ members and accompanied ESP DISK letter head stationary, dated October 20, 1966, advising of THE GODZ and their impending first album, to be "issued on Halloween of 1966" ... this is a pre-release TEST PRESS of the HALLOWEEN '66 released "CONTACT HIGH" album by the GODZ...
If you want to know about the Godz, the first thing you will want to ignore anyone who complains that they couldn't play their instruments. This music is lightning in a bottle. A crew of garage amateur 'heads' coming together with basically no musical "talent" and somehow creating a work of lasting impact and influence. Chances are you probably couldn't sit in a room with a bunch of your friends and pick up a bunch of strange instruments and somehow create a cohesive batch of songs with a distinctive sound. But the Godz did. And they will make you THINK that you can too! When listening to Godz, several subcultural movements come to mind: the beat-gen of the 50s, hippie psych of the 60s and early 70s, and the experimentalism of past eras. Sever bands come to mind: Captain Beefheart, and No Neck Blues Band -- raw, untrained, totally free. The way music is supposed to be. Don't listen to any reviews on certain all-comprehensive music sites about how Godz lacked technicality. Pure nonsense. When it comes to making music, no such thing as technical skills. You can argue that people who cannot play Godz's style lack technicality. For fans of No Neck Blues, Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, and The Shaggs. Clocking in at a hair over 25 minutes, Contact High is one tripped-out record. Opening with the track "White Cat Heat," which consists of avant-garde strummed acoustic guitars, arhythmic percussion, and Jim McCarthy and Larry Kessler screeching like a couple of, uh, cats in heat, it only gets weirder. Best tracks are "1+1 Equals ?" and the tranced "Lay in the Sun" (total lyrics: "All I want to do is lay in the sun"). For those who like their pop on the cutting edge, begin here and don't turn back...
