You are bidding on what I believe to be a unique and "one-off" 1966 UK 1st press of the Beatles, Revolver LP. Please read on and I will explain why I believe this to be a one-off and unique item. 

This 1966 1st UK MONO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7009
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co..' rims.
This earliest of copies bears the initial 'Dr. Robert' spelling on the side 2 label.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the label on side 1.

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback Garrod & Lofthouse printed mono/stereo hybrid cover.
Complete with its original 'Patents Applies For' plain white inner-sleeve.

We're probably all familiar with the UK 1st mono "606-1" pressing of the Beatles LP, Revolver with the alternative mix of "Tomorrow Never Knows" but just incase you're not...

The exact story behind why the wrong track came to be issued on such a seminal record is not entirely clear as its existence only came to light in the 1980’s. However it would appear that John Lennon had decided (with the benefit of hindsight and it would appear without the knowledge of George Martin) to replace ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ with an altogether different mix. For those collectors who are unaware, the track as it appears on this 606-1 pressing is significantly different to the one which was issued on all later copies of the album. The ‘seagull’ sounds are more intense and random, the track is longer and there is a piano playing at the end of the track. The song was seen by Lennon as a ‘ground breaking’ piece of music, so it is understandable why he went to such lengths to have the track replaced on all later versions of the album.

So, this LP is already a rare and highly collectable item but what makes it even rarer and almost probably unique, is the Mono/Stereo misprinted sleeve. On the front cover as nornal you'll find the "mono" text in the top right corner but when you flip it over, you'll notice that in the top right corner on the back it shows "Stereo" along with the stereo catalogue number "PCS 7009" when it should be "PMC 7009".

In all my years as a collector I have never seen another like it. I haven't been able to find anyone that has ever seen a similar misprint and nor have I been able to find any previous sales history with this particualr misprint so I believe it to be unique. Please view the pictures, you can see clearly the hybrid mono/stereo sleeve is original and with no signs of any tampering. This unique item is in great condition and has superb audio. The matrix stamps show it is a true mono recording with the alternative version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" and both labels also show the catalogue numbers for a mono pressing.

Vinyl - VG+/EX

Each and every track plays as it should. It's loud, punchy, well balance, well pressed with no nasty hiss or crackle, no repetitive clicking or popping, jumping or skipping. Some soft/minor background noise on run-in/run-out and between tracks but nothing loud, harsh, crackly or that would become apparent over the audio. The odd random and isolated click here or there but nothing overly noticeable. Clear and bright audio throughout. Vinyl sits perfectly flat on turntable. Nice shine each side with minor hairlines.

Sleeve - EX

Front laminated and cardboard flip back. Beautiful condition all over. No rips or splits. Some very light edge ware but nothing bad, some soft age toning. Straight spine and edges. No crushing to the spine and all text clearly visibleable 

Labels - VG+

A few light spindle lines each side with a little wear around center hole but overall nothing nasty and still looking bright and clean.
