Description

5 Bill Drummond Kalevala singles, plus 1 related blank single (KALA 008).  All unplayed and in original sleeves and card envelopes.  Will be a tiny bit of dust on some of the vinyl as would be expected (over 20 years old).  Smoke free home.

5 singles released by Bill Drummond on Kalevala label in 1997 - see below from Discogs about the Kalevala 'project'

The 5 singles are Draculas Daughter, Candy, KALA 001 (note, the name has been changed in pen on the vinyl but all copies appear to be like this) The Fuckers, Sexy Roy Orbison, KALA 002 The Daytonas, Faster Gimpo Kill! Kill! Kill!, KALA 004 The Blizzard King, Break on Through, KALA 005 Auroro Borealis, Aurora Borealis, KALA 006
I related white label test pressing (KALA 008) There is also an unmarked single which has inscribed on the vinyl KALA 008.  6 records were released on the Kalevala label in a series - 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006.  Discogs has a further 2 listed items listed KALA 007 and KALA 009. No idea what KALA 8 is never played - should be of interest to a Drummond enthusiast.

Kalevala

Profile: Finnish label invented by Bill Drummond and Mark Manning to release a series of 7" singles inspired by their novel Bad Wisdom. Failing to find any real Lapp punk or Arctic soul acts like the ones they described in the book, Bill & Z invented the acts and hired musicians and singers in Helsinki to record the songs. 

Only six singles were released, limited to 500 copies each. The tracks came from the unreleased Bad Wisdom soundtrack album, Huono Viisaus, which also included a cover of Immigrant Song by ice bikers Molten Rock and songs by Kristina Bruuk and Gormenghast.
